My name is Samantha Dennard, and I have the privilege of teaching 2nd grade here at Meridian Elementary. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech, Language and Hearing Science from Metro State College of Denver. It was in conjunction with this degree that I acquired my teaching license. After teaching for a couple of years I felt the need to go back to school and get my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, Instruction and Curriculum (with a focus on reading). This was done at Grand Canyon University. I am toying with the idea of going back for either another Masters or a doctorate – who knows; I can’t seem to stay away for too long.
When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters. I love to run, bike, and hike in our amazing Rocky Mountains, and I have become a bit of a gym rat lately. I am a huge sports fan and have a particular affection for the Broncos.Teaching is what I was put on this earth to do. I love the process of getting to know my students and their individual needs. I appreciate the challenge of meeting those needs, and the satisfaction in seeing my students grow. The way they blossom into creative thinkers who understand how they are connected to the world around them is inspiring.
