I am a native of Denver and love living in Colorado. I hold two BA degrees and a MA degree in Education from the University of Colorado at Denver. In 2005, I was awarded the Regie Routman International Reading Association Award as a classroom teacher. I have been teaching in Adams 12 for north of 20 years. I have been a Title 1 Reading teacher, Literacy Resource teacher, technology teacher, first grade teacher and fourth grade teacher. I have been teaching literacy classes for the University of Colorado for over ten years in the Graduate School of Education working with teachers earning master's degrees. In my spare time I enjoy balancing my life with health and fitness related activities; kickboxing is my current favorite workout (probably because it is at a gym where we don't have physical contact.) Until recently, I volunteered for Special Olympics for basketball and softball. Now, I am spending more of my volunteer for the my local police department. I absolutely LOVE working with the amazing students and families at Meridian. The school community here is exceptional and I'm honored to work with such great parents and kids. I enjoy finding individual learning challenges for my students and I truly believe they are all capable of reaching challenging goals. I find first graders, their energy and their spelling HILARIOUS!
