I have 30 years of teaching experience (I know, this makes me really old) and received my training at the University of Northern Colorado with a BA in elementary education a minor in English, Social Sciences, and secondary education. I began my teaching career in San Antonio, Texas, and taught kindergarten. As a native of Colorado, I was anxious to return to my home state and family. I began teaching high school English at Skyline High School in Longmont, CO. I was thrilled with this position because it allowed me to return to my roots. I taught at the high school I had attended and had the opportunity to teach with my father, also an educator. I moved to Adams 12 Five Star Schools to take a position at Pecos Junior High, where I taught English and social studies to 7th and 8th graders. As the district moved to a middle school concept I used my elementary training and experience to teach 6th grade at Niver Creek Middle School. In my secondary teaching positions, I have always enjoyed coaching as well. I coached volleyball and track for 14 years. I planned a move to the elementary level and applied for a spot on the inaugural staff if Meridian Elementary. I began teaching at Meridian when we opened our doors in a 3rd-grade position. I have been on our 3rd-grade team since the building's first year. I also enjoy helping put together teams for the Lions Club Relays each year. I look forward to working with kiddos in the spring who join our Meridian Track Team!
Teaching and coaching are rewarding, fulfilling, and inspiring challenges for me. I’m as excited about teaching each new year as I remember being when I first began. The time has flown by, and each year I am rewarded with spending my days with delightful, engaging, and energetic students.
