I have been a District RN for 12 years with Adams 12 Five Star Schools. My previous Nursing experience was in the hospital as a staff Nurse in labor/delivery, postpartum, gynecology, and new born nursery unit. I also spent some time as a telephone triage and chronic disease management Nurse. I have always been focused on family and child health and enjoy working within the community setting. School Nursing requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a current RN license to practice in the State of Colorado. My role in Adams 12 Five Star Schools covers 5 schools and includes the oversight of health aides to ensure that the health needs of students are addressed during the school day. This includes chronic and acute health condition management, communicable disease monitoring, immunization compliance, monitor and supervise medication administration and medical procedures, develop and implement health care plans, State mandated health service requirements, health liaison between teachers, administrators, parents and community health care providers, health assessments for Special Education and 504 evaluations. I am one of two Diabetes Nurse Specialists within our District.
When I am not at work I enjoy the great outdoors, bicycling, hiking, snowshoeing, gardening, and camping.
