What a privilege it is to be here at Meridian! Education has been at the center of my heart for as long as I can remember, including my childhood playtime of placing my stuffed animals around a card table and teaching them a lesson using my used school materials from my wonderful former school years. School was always an exciting and wonderful place for me as a child and I don’t remember ever wanting to be anything except a teacher when I grew up. I hope to bring this excitement to my own classroom.
My experience in education now runs a 25 year span of varied types of teaching. I began teaching first and second grade in St. Vrain in the mid ‘90s and then I had my first child. I stayed involved in education, but chose to stay at home as much as possible as I raised my family. During this time I ran after school programs, wrote resources for resource companies, created my own preschool, taught a GT program, private tutored, and taught and directed at a private preschool. I returned to the classroom when my children were a bit older in 2014 and have been teaching in Jeffco for the last 5 years in first and fifth grades. I’m so excited to join Adams 12 and Meridian as a third grade teacher.
My own family keeps me busy and is one reason my start in Adams 12 is so exciting for me. I have been married to my husband Tim, for 24 years who also had a long educational career, but now runs his own home inspection business. I have 2 sons and a daughter, all of which have or did attend Adams 12 schools. My oldest son is currently a junior in college and graduated from Legacy High School in 2017. My middle child is a senior at Legacy and my daughter is a freshman at Legacy. We have been very impressed by their educational progression in Adams 12 at Coyote Ridge, Westlake, and Legacy. This district and school are great places for your children too!
If I’m not working on something related to teaching, you might find me relaxing in the backyard, enjoying a restaurant patio, sipping a Starbucks, doing a puzzle, watching a movie, or just finding any way to scrounge those fleeting moments of family time! My, how quickly my children have grown, and so too will yours! I can’t wait to spend time with your precious ones! Thank you for entrusting them to me this year.
