Meridian 2nd Grade Universal Screener: September 9 - September 11
Universal Screening: In Adams 12 Five Star Schools, 2nd graders who are not already identified GT participate in the Universal Screening process for potential gifted and talented identification. This test is used as a screener, to identify students who warrant further evaluation to see if their Body of Evidence meets the criteria for GT identification.
GT Testing for grades: K, 1st, 3rd, 4th or 5thParent/Staff/Student GT Recommendation: All students can participate in the GT identification process by submitting a complete body of evidence. Find more detailed information regarding the GT recommendation process in the Five Star District.
The COGAT assessment is the first piece of evidence that we could use to create a body of evidence to show that a student should be identified as gifted

Important dates for the GT Recommendation process at Meridian:
- Universal Screener for 2nd grade: Sept 9 - Sept 11
- Referral/ Request for K, 1 ,3, 4, and 5th form due October 23 2026.
- Parents are notified by email confirming their referral/permission to test.
- COGAT Testing will be November 30 & December 1
- COGAT Make ups on December 7th.
- AAGS Advanced Academics and Gifted Services, gathers and evaluates a Body of Evidence, which includes the cognitive scores, to make a gifted determination (either GT identified, Talent Pool, or not gifted).
- Parents are notified via email in Infinite Campus by February 2026.
