COPPA Opt-out Form
Our class would like to use Edmodo, Edublog, Schoology, Prezi, Kidblog, Typingweb and/or Animoto , online learning tools that students will use to interact with peers using technology. Before using these tools, we wanted to make you aware of federal regulations that apply to operators of websites and require parental consent when they collect information on children under 13, as described below.
In order for students to use this program/service, certain personal information must be provided to the web site operator. Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), these websites must provide parental notification and obtain parental consent before collecting personal information from children under the age of 13. For more information on COPPA, please visit http://www.ftc.gov/privacy/coppafaqs.shtm.
Schools are permitted to consent to the collection of personal information on behalf of parents of students, thereby eliminating the need for individual parental consent given directly to the web site operator. Before doing so, the District is providing you with this notice and opportunity to opt out.
We will have your student use his or her District-provided email account for this.
After reviewing this site, if you would NOT like your child to have their own account, please contact me in writing, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If I do not hear from you otherwise, we will create an account for your student as needed.
